What to Expect

On Sunday morning, you should expect to be greeted by warm, friendly people who are delighted you are joining us.  Upon entering our worship room, you should be given a worship bulletin.  Please feel free to sit anywhere you are comfortable and we also provide a balcony for those who may wish to sit there. We also provide hearing aid equipment that broadcasts the sound system.  Our worship area is wheelchair accessible and ushers are there to provide any assistance you may need.

Our worship service is pretty typical of most other Protestant churches.  We have a time of prayer, singing of hymns, and choir specials.  A pastor will offer a biblically founded and Christ inspired sermon which may offer you points to ponder as you continue through your week.

One significant difference for Quakers is a period called “open worship.”  This is a period of quiet for an unspecified amount of time.  It usually follows the sermon and allows those in attendance to consider the message and connect with God.  During this time, you are encouraged to listen to what God may be speaking in your heart through the Holy Spirit.  This is a time of focusing on what God is saying.  If you feel led, you may stand and break the silence with a thought, prayer, hymn, passage of Scripture, or whatever the Holy Spirit directs.  However, announcements are discouraged.

This welcomed silence allows us to slow our busy lives and focus our energy and attention on our Lord.

Dress – There is no dress code however, Quakers pride themselves on simplicity.  Many people come in business casual. We come dressed to engage in worship of Jesus Christ and receive His words for the leading of our lives.
